Adjacent to National Wildlife Refuge

Ten miles from the confluence of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, a riverine flood plain is critical habitat for birds. Beyond habitat, this site also holds much potential for study of fresh water issues. The vision and mission for a new environmental research center and laboratory, with a facility to be designed by Maya Lin, are being developed by Washington State University. Working with WSU are the Port of Ridgefield, and a broad partnership of public and private entities.
