When visiting the bird blind, look at elements of the architecture such as the ramp and entry, and how the structure is cantilevered over the slope. What effect do these elements have from outside, and from the inside? What does the structure look like from different angles? Why do you suppose artist Maya Lin used the form of an ellipse? Can you imagine visiting in different seasons, or when the plantings have matured?
